Sebidi’s first name means ‘mother of animals’, partly illuminating the title of this remarkable work, executed in her characteristic pointillist style. The scene, charged with the intensity evident throughout her work, depicts a couple surrounded by family and friends, all witnessing a spiritual union between husband and wife.
